Supply checks
Keep rental supplies off your mental to-do list
A bulk purchase feels like one less thing to think about. A few stays later, someone opens the cupboard and finds the last roll of paper towels. The receipt tells you what you bought; a scheduled check gives you a reason to look again before you forget.
You don't need a stock-management project to start. Pick a few supplies that cause repeat trips, write down where they belong and choose when to check them.
Start with the cupboard that causes the most trips
Coffee, tea and paper towels are a useful starting point, but your property may go through bin bags, dishwasher tablets or soap more quickly. Use what you actually restock. Keep the product size beside the name so a co-host doesn't have to guess which replacement to buy.
A short note can do a lot: “Paper towels — six-roll pack — spare shelf above washer.” If a particular product matters, keep its packaging photo or original receipt where you can find it. Leave door codes and guest details out of shared photos.
Choose the next check, then adjust from experience
Use a date you can act on. For example, you might choose to inspect a cupboard in two weeks after a bulk purchase. That is a reminder to look, not a prediction that the supply will last two weeks.
At the check, note what remains and what needs buying. If you keep finding plenty, move the next check further out. If you run short, check sooner or add the item to the turnover list. Guest numbers and stay lengths can change consumption, so purchase dates alone don't tell you how much is left.
Turn the receipt into your next check
In doorledge, open the saved receipt and choose Set a supply reminder, then tap or hold an item in the receipt text. Choose when to check it. You can also start from Tasks → Supply check without a receipt.
Review recognized text first. An abbreviated store label may need a clearer name, such as “Kitchen paper towels.” A selected Amazon receipt or invoice can be imported as a document; doorledge does not connect to your Amazon account or scan your email inbox.
Allow iPhone notifications if you want a prompt at the time you choose. Due checks also appear in Tasks. Mark a supply checked, snooze until tomorrow or pause the reminder when it no longer fits your routine. The app does not measure stock or order replacements.
Ask for a specific observation
“Please check supplies” is easy to answer with “looks fine.” “How many unopened paper-towel rolls are on the spare shelf?” gives you something you can use. A photo of the shelf after restocking can help the next person understand what belongs there.
If a co-host is doing the check, send a checklist copy and agree how they will reply. doorledge's supply reminders live on your iPhone; sharing a checklist does not create a reminder on someone else's phone or keep the two lists in sync.
